Tigers Send Largest Group of Athletes to State Meet

The Tigers capped off an excellent showing at the sectional meet and are proud to announce that 17 athletes have qualified for the State Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week in Gulf Shores! Our team put together a fantastic weekend of performances, earning top finishes across sprints, distance races, relays, jumps, and throws. Every athlete’s hard work, focus, and determination was on full display as we battled tough competition and rose to the occasion.

Qualifying for state is a huge achievement and reflects the months of training and commitment our athletes have put in. As we head to Gulf Shores, there’s a real sense of excitement and momentum within the team. Tigers have strong showing at sectionals

Springville High School athletes competed at the AHSAA Lincoln Sectional (5A) on April 25–26, 2025 for the right to go to the state track meet in Gulf Shores
From sprints to throws to distance events, the Tigers left their mark with a string of first, second, and third-place finishes that helped power their team to an impressive overall showing.

  • Both the Boys and Girls 4x400m Relays finished strong, with the boys taking 5th (3:36.61) and the girls grabbing 4th (4:29.77).

Final Thoughts:

Springville’s athletes showcased incredible depth, talent, and heart across the board.
Special shoutouts to Alexius Mostella for her two event wins and dominance in hurdles, and to the relay teams for crushing it on the track!

Tigers compete with tough competition at the Hewitt-Trussville Invitational

The Springville Tigers hit the track again this week, going head-to-head with tough competition and gaining valuable experience at the Hewitt-Trussville Invitational. While the team didn’t take any top-three finishes this meet, their resilience, consistency, and improvement across all events prove they’re gearing up for a strong postseason. Let’s dive into the results and highlights from the girls’ and boys’ teams.


👟 Girls’ Team Highlights

While the girls’ team didn’t crack the top three in this meet, they made a strong impression across sprints, distance, relays, and throws.

💨 Sprints & Hurdles

  • Alexius Mostella continued to shine in hurdles:
    • 4th place in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 16.36
    • 9th place in the 300m Hurdles (49.25)
  • In the 100m Dash, Alexius also competed, placing 24th (13.43), followed by Amya Mostella (36th) and Samyiah Ward (68th).
  • Rebecca Sierra ran a 27.64 in the 200m for 20th and a solid 1:02.09 in the 400m for 13th place.

🏃‍♀️ Mid-Distance & Distance

  • Carmen McMaster placed 17th in the 800m with 2:31.81
  • Adalyn Seigman showed great endurance, taking:
    • 19th in the 1600m (6:08.40)
    • 10th in the 3200m (12:55.60)
  • Felicity Bentley followed closely in the 3200m, placing 14th (13:42.00)

🤝 Relays

  • The 4x800m Relay Team clocked a 10:51.97 for a 6th place finish.
  • The 4x400m Relay Team took 9th with a time of 4:29.79

💪 Field Events

  • Gabby Stone impressed in Discus with a 12th place finish (90-7) and took 16th in Shot Put (29-11.5)
  • Aniyah James competed in Shot Put (24th) and Discus (34th)
  • Allie Blankenship threw 68-8 in Javelin for 26th
  • Zuriah Jacobs rounded out the Shot Put crew with 27th place

While the boys also missed the podium in this meet, they held strong in relays, distance, and throws with several top-10 finishes.

💨 Sprints

  • Charles Sanford led the 100m squad, finishing 61st (12.19), followed by Blake Davis (64th) and Jaden Ward (69th)
  • In the 200m, Allen Springer clocked a 24.31 (48th)

🏃‍♂️ Mid & Long Distance

  • Tate Milstead ran a strong 2:00.29 in the 800m, landing 7th place
  • In the 1600m, top finishers included:
    • Brayden Chandler – 22nd (4:53.46)
    • Van Stewart – 28th
    • Brayden Marlow – 29th
  • In the 3200m, Brayden Marlow was 12th, followed by Jaden Hall (14th) and Logan Stuman (15th)

🤝 Relays

  • The 4x800m Relay Team narrowly missed the podium with a 4th place finish (8:29.66)
  • The 4x400m Relay Team ran a respectable 3:44.62, good for 11th

  • Jackson Gatgens showed power in:

Springville Track & Field Secures Top Finishes at Lake Guntersville Invitational

The Springville Tigers hit the track once again and brought home an impressive collection of first, second, and third-place finishes at the Lake Guntersville Invitational. With dominant performances in sprints, distance events, relays, hurdles, and field events, both the girls and boys teams made their mark in a big way. Here’s a breakdown of the action.

Our Lady Tigers turned up the heat in both the sprints and the relays, with three podium finishes and multiple top-ten performances.

🥇 First Place

  • Alexius Mostella stole the show with two gold medals, winning:
    • 100m Hurdles with a time of 16.55
    • 300m Hurdles in 48.26

🥈 Second Place

  • The 4x800m Relay Team clinched 2nd place with a strong 10:54.75 finish.

  • The 4x400m Relay Team sprinted to a 3rd place finish in 4:33.56.

Springville’s track and field athletes came out swinging at the Scottsboro Invitational, delivering multiple first-place victories, top-three finishes, and personal bests across a wide range of events.   • Alexius Mostella claimed 1st in the 300m Hurdles with a commanding time of 48.49.

🥈 Second Place

  • Alexius Mostella continued her momentum with a 2nd place finish in the 100m Hurdles at 16.19.
  • Adalyn Seigman earned 2nd in the 3200m Run, clocking in at 13:23.28.

Notable Top 10 Finishes

  • Alexius Mostella also took 4th in the 100m Dash (13.13).
  • Rebecca Sierra sprinted into 4th in the 200m Dash (26.61) and 6th in the 400m (1:02.33).
  • Zuriah Jacobs placed 6th in Shot Put (29-8.5).
  • Aniyah James followed closely in Shot Put with an 8th place finish (28-2).

  • 4x100m Relay Team sprinted to 1st place with a time of 46.79.
  • 4x800m Relay Team also secured 1st at 8:46.48, a phenomenal team effort.
  • Jackson Gatgens launched an incredible 152-4 throw in Javelin, taking 1st place.

🥉 Third Place

  • Charles Sanford placed 3rd in the 100m Dash with a blistering 11.78.
  • Tate Milstead took 3rd in the 400m Dash at 53.08.
  • Brayden Marlow earned 3rd in the 3200m Run with a time of 10:57.33.

  • Brayden Chandler ran a strong 4th place in the 800m (2:09.26).
  • Ryan Freeman placed 4th in Javelin (117-7).

Springville High School’s track and field team competed at the Friday “Knight” Lights meet in Arab Alabama and showcased a string of standout performances across the board. From sprints to distance races, hurdles to field events, both our boys and girls showed grit, teamwork, and serious speed. Here’s a breakdown of the action, highlighting our top finishes and personal bests. With multiple top-10 finishes, a podium performance in the boys’ 4x800m, and a silver medal in hurdles for Alexius Mostella, Springville is charging full-speed into the next phase of the season.

Our girls gave a powerful showing, especially in hurdles and distance events.

  • 🥈 Alexius Mostella dominated the 100m Hurdles, bringing home a 2nd place finish with a time of 16.46.
  • She also placed 4th in the 300m Hurdles, clocking in at 49.91.
  • Adalyn Seigman had a strong run in the 3200m, placing 13th with a time of 12:44.01, a season best.
  • In relays, the 4x800m team finished 5th with a season-best of 10:49.12, and the 4x400m team placed 7th with 4:39.49.
  • In field events, Aniyah James impressed with a 6th place finish in Shot Put (28-10.5).
  • Allie Blankenship threw 68-1 in Javelin, securing 9th place.
  • Felicity Bentley ran a personal best in the 1600m (6:01.87), finishing 26th.

The boys’ team saw strong placements and a major top-three finish in the relays:

  • Brayden Chandler landed in 6th place in the 3200m, finishing with a blazing 10:05.89.
  • The 4x100m relay placed 4th (47.05) and the 4x400m team earned 6th (3:45.87).
  • In the 400m dash, Tate Milstead secured a 10th place finish with a new season best of 53.70.
  • Ryan Freeman was consistent in the field, finishing:
    • 9th in Discus (114-6),
    • 11th in Javelin (113-1),

Outdoor Track Teams Compete at Patriot Invitational

The Springville Tigers outdoor track team kicked off their season at the Patriot Invitational and saw incredible results , with both the boys’ and girls’ teams delivering outstanding performances.

Girls’ Team Highlights:

  • Running Events:
    • 100 Meter Hurdles: Alexius Mostella blazed through the competition, claiming 1st place with a time of 16.99.
    • 300 Meter Hurdles: Alexius Mostella doubled her victories, securing another 1st place finish with a time of 49.53.
    • 4×800 Meter Relay: The girls’ relay team ( Felicity Bentley, Ella Colley, Adalyn Seigman, & Carmen McMaster) dominated, taking 1st place with a time of 10:51.05.
    • 400 Meter Dash Rebecca Sierra ran a strong race to finish 3rd with a time of 1:05.96.
    • 800 Meter Run Carmen McMaster ran a 2:43.11 to finish 3rd.
    • 1600 Meter Run Carmen McMaster ran a 6:04.35 to finish 4th.
  • Field Events:
    • While the girls did not achieve first or second in the field events, Aniyah James did throw the discus for 54-4 and Allie Blankenship threw it for 40-1.

  • Running Events:
    • 400 Meter Dash: Allen Springer secured 2nd place with a time of 53.70.
    • 800 Meter Run: Tate Milstead grabbed 2nd place with a time of 2:06.32.
    • 1600 Meter Run: Brayden Chandler earned 2nd place with a time of 5:01.13.
    • 4×100 Meter Relay: The boys’ relay team (Blake Davis, Allen Springer, Evan Green, & Charles Sanford) took 2nd place with a time of 47.10.
    • 4×800 Meter Relay: The boys’ relay team (Brayden Chandler, Tate Milstead, Brayden Marlow, & Van Stewart) claimed 1st place with a time of 8:41.99.
  • Field Events:
    • Discus: Jackson Gatgens threw a fantastic 105-4 to take 1st place, followed closely by Ryan Freeman in 2nd place with 104-1.
    • Javelin: Jackson Gatgens achieved another 1st place finish with a throw of 145-8.

The Tigers will compete next at the Gadsden City meet on Friday March 7th 2025.

Tate Milstead Breaks School Record in the 800m Indoor Race

Springville High School senior Tate Milstead made history at the Last Chance indoor track meet this past weekend, delivering a stellar performance in the 800-meter run. Milstead not only secured a 5th-place finish in a highly competitive field but also broke the school record with an impressive time of 2:01.23.

The previous record of 2:03.38, set by Houston Colley, had stood since 2023.
