Springville Tigers Shine at AHSAA 5A State Championships

The Springville High School cross country teams capped off an incredible 2025 season with outstanding performances at the AHSAA 5A State Championships, held in Oakville. Competing against the best in Alabama, both the boys and girls teams ran with heart, determination, and true Tiger pride.


🏅 Girls Team – Top-10 State Finish

The Lady Tigers carried their momentum from their sectional title into state competition, earning an impressive showing led by standout individual performances.

  • Carmen McMaster led the way with a remarkable 8th-place finish (20:04.97), earning a spot among the top 10 runners in Class 5A.
  • Elisabeth Hoffman followed with a strong 17th-place finish (20:46.89), rounding out a top-20 performance.
  • Kate Hale (49th, 22:12.40), Adalyn Seigman (53rd, 22:16.72), and Lily Langley (54th, 22:16.73) packed tightly together to help secure key team points.

Additional finishers included June Chandler (72nd, 23:00.57), Blair Graydon (115th, 25:41.41), and Lucy Weichman (116th, 25:42.60)—completing a deep and unified team effort.

The Lady Tigers’ strong collective performance showcased their growth throughout the season and solidified their place among the best programs in the state.


🏆 Boys Team – School Record and All-State Finish

The Springville boys also closed out a stellar season at the state meet, highlighted by a school record, a top-10 individual finish, and consistent performances across the roster.

  • Brayden Chandler led the Tigers with a phenomenal 9th-place finish (16:18.78)—a new Springville High School record and one of the fastest times in Class 5A this season. His performance also earned him All-State honors, capping off a historic race for the Tigers.
  • Brayden Marlow (42nd, 17:52.80), Van Stewart (47th, 18:07.10), and Easton Gunnells (48th, 18:07.48) ran tightly together to keep Springville competitive in the team standings.
  • Jaden Hall (69th, 18:32.54) rounded out the scoring, while Aden Ruple (73rd, 18:39.10) and Jack Hutchinson (96th, 19:17.23) added solid depth.

Additional finishers included Jonathan Dowd (106th, 19:31.42), Alex Ford (132nd, 20:11.69), and Henry Hutchinson (168th, 23:01.99)—helping close out a strong team effort on the biggest stage.

Both the Springville boys and girls teams finished among the top programs in Class 5A across the entire state of Alabama—a tremendous accomplishment that highlights their hard work, consistency, and competitive spirit. Their dual top team finishes mark one of the most successful seasons in Springville Cross Country history, showcasing the Tigers’ strength and balance across both squads.

🐅 Springville Tigers Sweep Sectionals — Both Teams Advance to State

The Springville High School cross country teams delivered a dominant performance at the AHSAA 5A Section 2 Meet, with both the boys and girls squads capturing first place and punching their tickets to the AHSAA State Championships.


🏅 Girls Team – Sectional Champions

The Lady Tigers showed outstanding depth and determination, placing five runners in the top 11 to secure the sectional title and continue their impressive season.

  • Carmen McMaster led the charge with an outstanding 2nd-place finish (20:43.68).
  • Elisabeth Hoffman followed close behind in 3rd place (21:08.30), giving Springville two runners in the top three.
  • Adalyn Seigman turned in another strong performance, finishing 7th (22:20.08).
  • Kate Hale and Lily Langley sealed the win with back-to-back finishes in 10th (22:29.73) and 11th (22:30.66).

Additional contributions came from June Chandler (14th, 23:24.57), Blair Graydon (35th, 25:36.93), and Lucy Weichman (40th, 26:07.64), rounding out a complete team effort that powered the Lady Tigers to the top of the standings.


🏆 Boys Team – Sectional Champions

The Springville boys matched the girls’ success with a championship performance of their own, placing five runners in the top 20 to claim the sectional crown.

  • Brayden Chandler led the Tigers with a lightning-fast 2nd-place finish (16:49.32).
  • Brayden Marlow followed closely in 5th (17:49.71), putting two Tigers among the top five finishers.
  • Easton Gunnells (14th, 18:18.49), Van Stewart (17th, 18:24.32), and Jaden Hall (19th, 18:31.53) rounded out the scoring pack, securing the top team spot.

Strong performances also came from Jonathan Dowd (30th, 19:06.56), Jack Hutchinson (32nd, 19:23.43), Aden Ruple (37th, 19:51.83), Alex Ford (42nd, 20:22.91), and Sims Hutchinson (59th, 21:18.66)—demonstrating the team’s depth and consistency.

With both the boys and girls teams claiming first-place finishes, the Springville Tigers are officially headed to the AHSAA 5A State Championships.

Cross Country Wraps Up Regular Season with Strong Results

The team continued a strong season of racing with impressive performances at both the Leeds Invitational and the Husky Challenge. Competing against deep fields, the runners turned in standout times and several top finishes, showing consistency and growth across the board.

The girls’ team turned in one of their best collective performances of the season, placing multiple runners in the top 25 and finishing 1st over all!

  • Carmen McMaster led the way with a 5th-place finish in 20:37.94, continuing her strong season.
  • Elisabeth Hoffman followed with a 10th-place finish at 21:15.98, giving the team two top-10 finishers.
  • Rounding out the top five were Adalyn Seigman (17th, 22:24.09), Kate Hale (19th, 22:40.37), and June Chandler (23rd, 23:28.69).
  • Additional solid finishes came from Lily Langley (27th, 24:04.69) and Lucy Weichman (89th), among others, showing great depth from the squad.

Husky Challenge

At the Husky Challenge, the girls battled through a large, competitive field.

  • Carmen McMaster again led the team, finishing 25th overall with a time of 21:03.49.
  • Adalyn Seigman (38th, 21:59.74) and Kate Hale (53rd, 23:02.50) followed closely behind.
  • Strong supporting finishes from Lily Langley (67th) and June Chandler (73rd) helped round out the team score.
  • Blair Graydon and Lucy Weichman also competed well to complete the varsity group.

The boys’ team delivered a standout performance at Leeds, with three finishers in the top 15 and five in the top 20 and also finishing 1st over all!

  • Brayden Chandler led the team with an outstanding 3rd-place finish in 16:52.84, one of his best times of the season.
  • Brayden Marlow followed with a 9th-place finish at 17:52.95, while Van Stewart secured 14th with a time of 18:13.15.
  • Rounding out the top five scorers were Jaden Hall (19th, 18:40.59) and Aden Ruple (20th, 18:47.01), giving the team a tight, fast pack.
  • Depth came from Easton Gunnells (23rd) and Jonathan Dowd (28th), among several others who helped solidify a strong team showing.

Hewitt-Trussville Invitational

At Hewitt-Trussville, the boys continued their momentum in a highly competitive meet.

  • Brayden Chandler once again led the team, finishing 17th overall in 16:59.14.
  • Brayden Marlow clocked 17:53.39 for 43rd place, while Easton Gunnells (58th) and Aden Ruple (60th) kept the pack tight.
  • Jaden Hall rounded out the top five scorers with a 68th-place finish in 19:33.78.
  • The rest of the team also showed strong performances, with Jonathan Dowd, Jack Hutchinson, and Ryley Morris all running well in the 19–20 minute range.

The Springville Cross Country team delivered back-to-back strong performances at two major meets: the Munsford Invitational and the prestigious Jesse Owens Classic.

Our cross-country team delivered another solid performance at this week’s meet, with both the boys and girls teams putting in hard work on a competitive field.

On the girls’ side, senior Carmen McMaster led the team with a strong 22nd place finish, clocking in at 21:59.87. Close behind was Elisabeth Hoffman in 27th place (22:20.51), followed by Adalyn Seigman at 28th (22:23.89). Their tight grouping in the low 22-minute range was an impressive display of consistency.

Other solid contributions came from Kate Hale (24:20.39, 61st), Lily Langley (24:23.27, 62nd), and June Chandler (25:31.28, 83rd), helping round out the team effort.

On the boys’ side, junior Brayden Chandler once again led the way with a standout 16th place finish, running a 17:25.97. He was followed by Brayden Marlow (42nd, 18:26.17) and Jaden Hall (50th, 18:44.24), both of whom broke into the top 50 with strong sub-19 performances.

Consistent efforts from Aden Ruple (19:28.99, 72nd), Easton Gunnells (19:31.94, 73rd), and a deep supporting cast helped round out the boys’ results and add depth to the team’s overall standing.

This week’s 5K cross country meet brought strong performances from both the girls’ and boys’ teams, with several athletes finishing high in competitive fields. Both squads showed growth, consistency, and determination throughout the race.

In their season opener at the Large School 5K, both the boys and girls teams made a strong statement. The girls were led by Carmen McMaster, who finished 18th with a time of 21:15, followed closely by Adalyn Seigman, Kate Hale, and Lily Langley—all finishing in the top 40. The boys were paced by Brayden Chandler in 24th place, with teammates Brayden Marlow and Jaden Hall close behind. With several athletes placing in the top half of the field, the meet was a solid first outing that set the tone for the season.

Wildcat Kickoff Recap

The momentum carried into the second meet, where Springville truly dominated. Carmen McMaster took 1st place overall, clocking a winning time of 21:42, while Elisabeth Hoffman and Adalyn Seigman finished in the top 10, helping the girls team make a strong team push.
