Springville Tigers Shine at AHSAA 5A State Championships

The Springville High School cross country teams capped off an incredible 2025 season with outstanding performances at the AHSAA 5A State Championships, held in Oakville. Competing against the best in Alabama, both the boys and girls teams ran with heart, determination, and true Tiger pride.


🏅 Girls Team – Top-10 State Finish

The Lady Tigers carried their momentum from their sectional title into state competition, earning an impressive showing led by standout individual performances.

  • Carmen McMaster led the way with a remarkable 8th-place finish (20:04.97), earning a spot among the top 10 runners in Class 5A.
  • Elisabeth Hoffman followed with a strong 17th-place finish (20:46.89), rounding out a top-20 performance.
  • Kate Hale (49th, 22:12.40), Adalyn Seigman (53rd, 22:16.72), and Lily Langley (54th, 22:16.73) packed tightly together to help secure key team points.

Additional finishers included June Chandler (72nd, 23:00.57), Blair Graydon (115th, 25:41.41), and Lucy Weichman (116th, 25:42.60)—completing a deep and unified team effort.

The Lady Tigers’ strong collective performance showcased their growth throughout the season and solidified their place among the best programs in the state.


🏆 Boys Team – School Record and All-State Finish

The Springville boys also closed out a stellar season at the state meet, highlighted by a school record, a top-10 individual finish, and consistent performances across the roster.

  • Brayden Chandler led the Tigers with a phenomenal 9th-place finish (16:18.78)—a new Springville High School record and one of the fastest times in Class 5A this season. His performance also earned him All-State honors, capping off a historic race for the Tigers.
  • Brayden Marlow (42nd, 17:52.80), Van Stewart (47th, 18:07.10), and Easton Gunnells (48th, 18:07.48) ran tightly together to keep Springville competitive in the team standings.
  • Jaden Hall (69th, 18:32.54) rounded out the scoring, while Aden Ruple (73rd, 18:39.10) and Jack Hutchinson (96th, 19:17.23) added solid depth.

Additional finishers included Jonathan Dowd (106th, 19:31.42), Alex Ford (132nd, 20:11.69), and Henry Hutchinson (168th, 23:01.99)—helping close out a strong team effort on the biggest stage.


🐾 Among the Best in Alabama

Both the Springville boys and girls teams finished among the top programs in Class 5A across the entire state of Alabama—a tremendous accomplishment that highlights their hard work, consistency, and competitive spirit. Their dual top team finishes mark one of the most successful seasons in Springville Cross Country history, showcasing the Tigers’ strength and balance across both squads.


🌟 A Season to Remember

From sectional championships to state-level excellence, the Tigers made their mark in 2025. With top-10 individual state finishes from Carmen McMaster and Brayden Chandler, a new school record, and both teams ranked among Alabama’s best, the Springville Tigers have firmly established themselves as a powerhouse in 5A cross country.

Tigers Track & Field Team Shines with Podium and Top 10 Finishes at State Championship Meet

This past weekend, our track and field athletes delivered impressive performances across multiple events at the ASHAA State Championships. Several athletes placed in the top 10, with standout podium finishes, including two 1st place victories In the 4×800 and the Javelin.

On Thursday Jackson Gatgens posted a PR mark of 171’3″ to win a very close 5a Javelin competition.

On Friday the 4×800 team that was made up of Brayden Chandler, Brayden Marlow, Tate Milstead, and Van Stewart ran impressive 8:23.02 to beat the heavily favored Scottsboro team.

Our girls competed fiercely, earning four Top 10 finishes, including a strong showing in hurdles and throwing events.

Top 5 & Podium Finishes

  • Gabby Stone – 5th in Discus (100-0): A powerful throw secured her a top-5 finish among a competitive field.

Top 10 Finishes

  • Alexius Mostella – 6th in 100m Hurdles (16.23): A standout run in the finals placed her among the best hurdlers at the meet.
  • Alexius Mostella – 10th in 300m Hurdles (49.18)
  • Carmen McMaster – 10th in 800m (2:30.09)
  • 4x800m Relay Team – 7th (10:52.96)

Additional Performances

  • Alexius Mostella ran a 12.66 in the 100m prelims (13th overall).
  • Carmen McMaster also placed 13th in the 1600m (5:36.99).
  • Adalyn Seigman finished 13th in the 3200m (12:51.19).
  • Ella Colley placed 19th in the 800m (2:43.96).
  • Gabby Stone also competed in Shot Put, placing 12th (30-7.25).
  • The 4x400m Relay Team came in 14th (4:30.81).

The boys team had an exceptional day, notching four Top 10 finishes, including two 1st place victories.

  • 4x800m Relay Team – 1st Place (8:23.02): A phenomenal team effort earned them the gold!
  • Jackson Gatgens – 1st in Javelin (171-3): Dominated the field with a powerful throw, clinching the top spot.

  • Brayden Chandler – 7th in 1600m (4:37.80)
  • Tate Milstead – 9th in 800m (2:03.22)
  • Brayden Chandler – 10th in 3200m (10:11.27)

Additional Performances

  • Van Stewart ran a 2:09.34 in the 800m (18th) and a 4:47.85 in the 1600m (16th).
  • Brayden Marlow placed 19th in the 3200m (10:54.36).
  • 4x400m Relay Team finished 12th (3:40.28).
  • Ryan Freeman threw 111-8 in Discus (20th).
  • Jackson Gatgens also competed in Discus, throwing 103-0 (21st).

Tigers Send Largest Group of Athletes to State Meet

The Tigers capped off an excellent showing at the sectional meet and are proud to announce that 17 athletes have qualified for the State Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week in Gulf Shores! Our team put together a fantastic weekend of performances, earning top finishes across sprints, distance races, relays, jumps, and throws. Every athlete’s hard work, focus, and determination was on full display as we battled tough competition and rose to the occasion.

Qualifying for state is a huge achievement and reflects the months of training and commitment our athletes have put in. As we head to Gulf Shores, there’s a real sense of excitement and momentum within the team.
